President of Uzbekistan receives a U.S. delegation

On October 4, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the United States delegation led by the Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman.
The current issues of further development of Uzbekistan – American strategic partnership were discussed at the meeting.
Wendy Sherman conveyed to the President of Uzbekistan sincere greetings and best wishes from U.S. President Joseph Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris and Secretary of State Antony Blinken.The strong support of the American side for the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Uzbekistan, as well as the program of democratic transformations and socio-economic reforms in the new Uzbekistan were emphasized.
The parties noted with satisfaction the dynamic development of multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and the United States in recent years.The importance of preparation of the agenda for the first meeting of the Strategic Partnership Dialogue between the countries, which will take place by the end of this year in Washington, was noted.
Interest was expressed in enhancing practical cooperation in such priority areas as politics and security, trade, investment and innovation, agriculture, energy, education, healthcare, humanitarian exchanges.Special gratitude was expressed to the American side for the assistance provided in the fight against the pandemic, including the supply of vaccines to Uzbekistan within the framework of the current global program.
The main attention was paid to issues of regional interaction, including within the framework of the Dialogue format and the Council of the U.S. – Central Asia Trade and Investment Framework Agreement.Views were exchanged on the emerging situation in Afghanistan. The efforts of Uzbekistan in providing assistance to the Afghan people and promoting projects designed to contribute to the establishment of long-term peace and the economic revival of the neighboring country were highly appreciated
