President of Uzbekistan holds a phone call with President-elect of Kyrgyzstan

On January 11, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a telephone conversation with President-elect of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov.
The President of Uzbekistan sincerely congratulated Sadyr Zhaparov on his convincing victory in the presidential elections, as well as on the successful holding of a referendum on introducing amendments to the Constitution of Kyrgyzstan.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed confidence that the results of the most important political events will lay a solid foundation for ensuring stability, improving people’s wellbeing and sustainable development of the country.
In turn, Sadyr Zhaparov expressed gratitude to the President and multinational people of Uzbekistan for the assistance to fraternal Kyrgyzstan in overcoming the consequences of modern challenges and combating the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.
Current issues of bilateral agenda and regional cooperation were discussed during the conversation.
It was emphasized that this year should become a period of further strengthening Uzbekistan – Kyrgyzstan friendship, good neighborliness, trust and strategic partnership, filling them with qualitatively new content.
The importance of practical implementation of previously reached agreements on deepening multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan was noted.
It is primarily on the impact of joint work on the delimitation of State borders, increasing trade, strengthening cooperation in industry, energy and agriculture, expansion of inter-regional contacts and humanitarian exchange, practical implementation of regional projects for the development of effective transport communications and other aspects.
An agreement was reached on intensifying the activities of intergovernmental commissions, as well as, on conducting several activities in key areas of cooperation.
A mutual interest in continuing a close and constructive dialogue and support within the framework of international organizations and regional structures was expressed.
The conversation took place in an open and friendly atmosphere.
