Uzbekistan, Russia expand inter-parliamentary ties

Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted a meeting of members of the Committee on International Affairs and Inter-Parliamentary Relations, the Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group on Relations between the Parliament of Uzbekistan and the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.
At the event with participation of deputies of the Legislative Chamber, representatives of the media, it was emphasized that inter-parliamentary friendship groups serve as an important platform in strengthening ties with parliaments of foreign countries.
Issues related to the expected visit to Uzbekistan of a delegation led by Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation V. Volodin were discussed at the meeting. During the visit, it is planned to sign an agreement between the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis and the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.
The participants made suggestions on inviting observers from the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation to the elections to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, regional, district and city Kengashes of people’s deputies, which will be held in December this year. Tasks for the future on development and strengthening international relations and inter-parliamentary cooperation were outlined.
