Radiation processing of products will increase exports

The Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted a workshop with participation of the International Atomic Energy Agency and leading experts on “Radiation processing of food and medical products in Uzbekistan”.
The workshop was organized in order to familiarize specialists of companies and organizations for production of agricultural, horticultural and food products with existing and new methods, as well as learning from the experience of leading experts in this field.
International experts made presentations on introduction of this method in Uzbekistan on the example of the current practice of radiation processing of various types of food.
At the workshop, views were exchanged on traditional methods of solving existing problems, modern development in the sphere of radiation processing of fruits and vegetables, food and medical products, normative documents and standards, regulations and installations necessary for its implementation.
It was emphasized that the organization in the country of radiation processing for agricultural industry, producers of food products will help to increase the volume of exports of fruits and vegetables.
