The symbol of our strength and pride

In accordance with the Article 122 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Article 11 of the Law “The bases of the State Independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan”, as well as the Regulation of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Uzbekistan by №952-ХII, adopted on the 3-d of September, 1993, аnd decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan by №870, adopted on the 16-d of June, 1994, it was put into circulation the national currency “sum” as a legal means of payment on the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The national currency is the national pride. It is one of the symbols of independent statehood, sign of the sovereignty. Being one of the main conditions of the stability of the economy, putting into circulation the national currency created the definite mechanism in carrying out the financial monetary and credit policy and economical policy as a completely appropriate to the interests of Uzbekistan.

MONETARY UNITS, PUT INTO CIRCULATION IN THE REPUBLIC OF UZBEKISTON IN 1994-2013 YEARS

The Central bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan put into circulation the following national currency “sum” of the Republic of Uzbekistan:
on the 1-st of July, 1994, the paper banknotes of the denomination 1,3,5,10,25,50 and 100 sum and the metal coins of the denomination 1,3,5,10,20 and 50 tiyin of 1994 series;
on the 1-st of March, 1997, the banknote of the denomination 200 sum and the metal coins of the denomination 1, 5 and 10 sum of 1997 series;
on the 20-th of October, 1999, the anniversary metal coin of the denomination 25 sum of 1999 series, devoted to 800 years anniversary of Jaloliddin Manguberdi;
on the 15-th of May, 2000, the metal coin of the denomination 1 sum of 2000 series,
on the 1-st of June, 2000, the banknote of the denomination 500 sum of 1999 series;
on the 1-st of September, 2001, the banknote of the denomination 1000 sum of 2001 series and the metal coins of the denomination 5, 10 and 50 sum of 2001 series, devoted to 10 years anniversary of the State Independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan;
on the 1-st of November, 2002, the metal coin of the denomination 50 sum, devoted to 2700 years anniversary of the town Shahrisabz;
on the 1-st of July, 2005, the metal coin of the denomination 100 sum of 2004 series, devoted to 10 years anniversary of the national currency of Uzbekistan;
on the 1-st of September, 2009, 2 types of the metal coins of the denomination 100 sum of 2009 series, devoted to 2200 years anniversary of the city Tashkent;
on the 1-st of September, 2011, the metal coin of the denomination 500 sum of 2011 series, devoted to 20 years anniversary of the State Independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
on the 1-st of July, 2013, the banknote of the denomination 5000 sum of 2013 series.
