On January 18, 2016, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan held a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Sultanate of Oman Mohammed bin Said bin Mohammed al-Lavati.

During the conversation the sides discussed current issues of bilateral relations and realization of joint projects, including the construction of the new building of the library of the Centre of Oriental Manuscripts named after Abu Rayhan Beruni under Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies.
