2023-06-08 | Economics

On the eve of the official visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Italy, a business forum was organized in Rome with the participation of business circles of the two countries, during which cooperation in the fields of agriculture and the food industry took a special place.

More than 30 specialized Italian companies took part in the business forum. Within the framework of bilateral negotiations and consultations, Uzbek and Italian businessmen discussed a wide range of promising projects. As a result of the business forum, 16 agreements were signed, 8 of which were aimed at financing investment projects. The remaining agreements relate to export contracts and technology agreements.

The total amount of the package of documents is about 400 million US dollars, in addition, an agreement was signed to allocate an additional 130 million US dollars to the agricultural sector in the future.

The export contracts detail the processes associated with the supply of agricultural products of Uzbekistan to the markets of Italy and Europe.

As a result of the business forum, new areas of cooperation were also agreed upon. For example, issues of attracting even more Italian companies to Uzbekistan, introducing water-saving technologies in the republic and processing food products were discussed, as well as potential opportunities for their production were considered. The main attention was paid to the financing of joint projects.

In particular, the issues related to the financing of agricultural projects by Italian financial institutions, including private banks, are considered.
