Kyrgyzstan is one of the reliable partners of Uzbekistan. Relations with this country are currently established in all areas, bilateral cooperation is also being strengthened in textile production.
Head of the Public and External Relations Department of Uzbekistan Textile and Garment Industry Association Shakhzoda Kochkarova shared her opinion, in an interview with UzA Correspondent Nasiba Ziyodullayeva, about cooperation between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan in the textile sector and the results achieved in this direction.
– Kyrgyzstan is the third largest consumer of Uzbekistan textiles”, says Mrs. Shakhzoda Kochkarova. – Over the past three years, goods worth $771.8 million have been exported. In 2019, exports amounted to $92.8 million, in 2020 – $284 million and in 2021 – $395 million.
This figure for January-February this year amounted to $67.3 million. In the structure of exports, the share of finished products is 67.1 percent. Despite the pandemic, the figures above show a sharp increase in exports of textile products to Kyrgyzstan.
Cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Kyrgyz Republic in the textile industry have intensified in recent years. The policy of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, aimed at strengthening friendly ties with neighboring countries, has become an important factor in establishing diverse cooperation with Kyrgyzstan.
Strong ties have been established between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan textile companies. Large-scale activity is being carried out in the development of production, exhibitions, in the investment, fashion and others.
Work is underway to export to Kyrgyzstan the products of companies located in the border areas, to widely attract qualified specialists to the textile enterprises of the two countries.
Art Soft Holding in Uzbekistan’s Namangan region plans to implement a project to create a cotton-textile cluster in the Nooken district of the Jalalabad region of Kyrgyzstan worth $25 million, which will cover a cotton gin, a garment factory, a machine, a tractor fleet and an oil and gas plant. A complete production chain will be created within the framework of the project.
In addition, the Uzbekistan Textile and Garment Industry Association has established extensive contacts with Kyrgyzstan’s textile organizations. Bilateral memorandums of understanding have been signed. Kyrgyz partners visit Uzbekistan and actively take part in exhibitions and forums. I am glad that strengthening cooperation between the companies of the two countries, exchange of knowledge and experience has become a tradition.
