2021-10-14 | Politics

On October 14-15, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev will take part in the EAEU and CIS summits via videoconference.

On October 14, the Head of the state in the status of an observer will address an extraordinary meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, to be chaired by the Kazakh side.

Members of the Council are the presidents of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, the Prime Minister of Armenia. It is expected that the President of Cuba will also act as an observer at the meeting.

In accordance with the agenda, current issues of further deepening multilateral trade and economic cooperation within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union will be considered.

The leader of Uzbekistan in his speech will outline promising areas of practical interaction with the EAEU.

It should be noted that in December last year, Uzbekistan was granted the status of an observer state in the Organization. In April this year, a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Eurasian Economic Commission and a Plan of Joint Measures for 2021-2023 were adopted.

On October 15, the jubilee meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States will take place. It will be attended by leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

The results of multilateral cooperation over the 30 years of the Organization’s activities, as well as joint plans to further enhance partnership in trade, investment, industrial cooperation, transport, migration, cultural and humanitarian exchange, will be considered at the event chaired by the Belarusian side.

Issues of countering modern challenges and threats to security, as well as sustainable development in a vast region will be discussed.

It is expected that the President of Uzbekistan, co-chairing the Commonwealth, will put forward several important initiatives to achieve the goals and objectives of the long-term Concept for the Development of the CIS.

Following the event, a package of multilateral documents aimed at deepening mutually beneficial cooperation in the CIS will be adopted.
