Uzbekistan’s Olympics Athletes Returning Home!

Athletes who demonstrated the glory of Uzbekistan at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games have returned to the country.

Welcoming the athletes at Tashkent International Airport, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan T. Narbayeva, People’s Writer of Uzbekistan M. Toir, People’s Artist Y. Sadiyev, winners of the Tokyo Olympics and mothers of athletes emphasized the milestones achieved as a result of creating conditions for the country’s youth to reveal their intellectual potential, the manifestation of talents, as well as the resilience of athletes shown at the Olympics, despite the difficult epidemiological situation in the world.

“My joy knows no bounds. Thanks to everyone”, said the winner of the Olympic Games Bakhodir Jalolov. – We achieved victory thanks to the created conditions, the care given to the athletes and the special attention of the state, personally President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. My gold medal is a gift for the 30th Anniversary of the Independence of our Motherland.

“I watched the competitions in Tokyo with great excitement”, says Oksana Rashitova, the mother of the Olympic Taekwondo Champion Ulugbek Rashitov. –I am incredibly happy. Every mother dreams that her son would fight for the country and win so that the flag of the Motherland would be raised and its anthem would sound. Ulugbek justified my hopes. Thanks to the coaches who did everything to make him reach such a level and victory. I am especially grateful that our state has created all the conditions for this and even pays attention to the parents of athletes.

Athletes, coaches, specialists and relatives of the Olympians who arrived from the Tokyo 2020 Olympics rode through the capital’s streets on buses with the flag of Uzbekistan. A caravan of buses with athletes was greeted by thousands of people and young athletes.
 
In the history of Uzbekistan sports, 19-year-old Ulugbek Rashitov became the first athlete to win a gold medal for the country at the Tokyo Olympics. Uzbekistan’s anthem sounded in honor of his glorious victory in the world sports arena.
 
Weightlifter Akbar Jurayev won the second gold medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games for Uzbekistan. In the competitions of athletes in the weight category of 109 kilograms in the snatch, he took the weight of 193 kilograms, in the clean and jerk – 237 kilograms, in the overall standings he showed a result of 430 kilograms and was awarded the gold medal of the Olympics.
 
The bronze medals won by judoka Davlat Bobonov and freestyle wrestler Bekzod Abdurakhmonov, and, finally, the gold medal won by Bakhodir Jalolov on the last day of the Olympic Games not only strengthened the sense of pride of the people, but also strengthened our confidence in future Uzbekistan, striving for uniting on the way to new victories.
 
The National Olympic Committee hosted an award ceremony for the winners of the Summer Olympic Games. The athletes who won medals at the sports arenas in Tokyo and their coaches were solemnly presented with gifts from the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan – keys to cars and apartments.
 
Advisor to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan A. Abduvakhitov and Prime Minister of the country Abdulla Aripov took part in the welcoming and awarding ceremonies of the athletes.
