The head of Uzbekistan Olympic delegation – Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Tourism and Sports Aziz Abdukhakimov has met with the Commissioner for Cultural Affairs of Japan Shunichi Tokura to discuss the issue of enhancing cultural and humanitarian relations between the two countries.

The Japanese side thanked for the high attention paid by Uzbekistan to the development of cultural and humanitarian cooperation, a powerful impetus to which was given during the high-level visit in December 2019.

On the occasion of the celebration in 2022 of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and holding of the cross Years of Culture in Uzbekistan and Japan, it is planned to organize mutual visits of art and literature workers, creative groups and performers.

Interest was expressed in cooperation in research of the Buddhist heritage of Uzbekistan, museum business, study of ancient manuscripts.

The Japanese side was invited to take part in the International Cultural Forum “Central Asia at the Crossroads of Civilizations” in September in Khiva and the Tashkent International Film Festival “Pearl of the Silk Road” in October this year.
