Workshop on additional measures to ensure active participation of citizens in the budget process

On April 13 of this year, the Resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. PP-5072 "On additional measures to ensure the active participation of citizens in the budget process" has been adopted.

For information: According to the approved document, in order to further involve citizens in the budget process, from this year a new procedure is being introduced in one district or city in each region to provide 5 percent of the approved total budget expenditures for financing activities formed on the basis of public opinion. From 2022, this procedure is planned to be introduced in all districts and cities.

For these purposes, in the current year, as an exception from the republican budget, additional 92.7 billion soums are provided to the budgets of districts (cities), and from next year these funds will be stipulated in the budget parameters of the corresponding districts (cities).

In order to clarify in detail the essence of the Resolution, a training seminar was organized for employees of reginal financial departments with the participation of experts from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Institute for fiscal studies under the Ministry of Finance and the Training Center under the Ministry of Finance.

The participants of the seminar were informed in detail about new mechanisms for financing events, formed on the basis of public opinion and the procedures established by the Resolution.

The event was organized in the form of a videoconference with Q&A sessions, during which employees of regional financial offices received detailed information on measures to ensure active participation of citizens in the budget process based on the Resolution.
