On Uzbek-Chinese political consultations

On March 30, 2021, the 17th round of political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China was held in the format of a videoconference.

 

The Uzbek delegation was led by Deputy Foreign Minister Furkat Sidikov, and the Chinese delegation was led by First Deputy Foreign Minister Le Yucheng. During the talks, the sides discussed the current state and prospects of deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries, current aspects of cooperation within the framework of regional and international organizations, as well as other issues of mutual interest.

The Chinese side highly appreciated the large-scale reforms carried out in Uzbekistan in recent years to modernize all spheres of life. Special attention was paid to trade, economic and investment cooperation, further expansion of the volume and range of mutual trade, implementation of projects in priority areas for the parties.

In this regard, the importance of joint transport, communication and infrastructure projects was noted. It was noted that cooperation in the agricultural sector, strengthening infrastructure in rural areas, introducing comprehensive approaches in education and health are promising. The schedule and organizational aspects of future joint activities at different levels were discussed. 

The Chinese side will hold a conference in Tashkent in July this year on the theme “Central and South Asia: Regional Relations. Threats and Opportunities ”international high-level conference. On the same day, the delegations of the two countries also took part in the 7th meeting of the Subcommittee on Security Cooperation of the Uzbek-Chinese Intergovernmental Committee on Cooperation.
