Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the State Committee for tourism development of the Republic of Uzbekistan Aziz Abdukhakimov addressed students of the Silk Road international University of tourism and their parents:  

“Our dear future students! Now you are facing one of the most important and responsible moments in your life - choosing a profession!

After all, the quality of your education depends on your future: professional growth, career and the possibility of self-realization. I sincerely congratulate those of You who have already become students of one of the best and most modern educational institutions in Central Asia, and also invite applicants from abroad to join us.

The opening of the new campus of the Silk Road International Tourism University now marks two historical anniversaries. First one, exactly two years ago (June 2018) during the summit of The Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Shavkat Mirziyaev, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, initiated the establishment of the Silk Road International Tourism University. Thanks to the important initiative of the President, today you are given a unique opportunity to become member of a reputable international university, located at the heart of the Great Silk Road - city of Samarkand.

The second date is exactly 600 years ago (in 1420), the ruler and famous scientist Mirzo Ulugbek opened the first higher education institution on Registan square – now called "Ulugbek Madrasah". We can safely say that this was the beginning of a Renaissance in the field of knowledge and science.

Today I invite you to participate in the process of awakening the tourism industry. According to UNWTO, Central Asia is currently becoming the most dynamic region for tourism –  in 2019, the region hosted 15 million foreign tourists, and over half a billion tourists visited Silk Road countries. Therefore, specialists in the field of tourism are in demand more than ever. In recognition of this fact and special attention to our region, the UNWTO Secretary General sent a message to the students of our University.

As students of the University, you will be able to learn from the best professors and teachers. In addition, our University has created all conditions not only for professional training, but also for cultural, sports and social life.

At the same time, our foreign partners in academic cooperation in research and exchange of students and professors are the most authoritative institutions in the field of tourism.

Our campus is very conveniently located near the Central Park – University Boulevard, Tourism street, 3- and 4-star hotels. It is in walking distance from the world-famous Registan square. Which is good for efficiently combining study, practice and leisure. International students will have a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in an authentic environment by staying in traditional guest houses with a local flavor.

I would like to emphasize another important aspect in favor of studying in Uzbekistan - according to the American Gallup Institute, among 142 countries, Uzbekistan gets in top-5 as the safest countries of the world.
