President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has got acquainted with the activities of the Opera and Bakhshi Art Boarding School in the city of Nukus.

Karakalpakstan is famed for its unique bakhshi school. During independence years, operatic art also widely developed here. This land has nurtured many folk bakhshis and honored musicians of Uzbekistan and Karakalpakstan.

The new art school serves to continue these good traditions, bringing them to the younger generation. The specialized educational institution began its work in September. It is designed for 150 students; gifted graduates of the 9th grade are admitted here on a competitive basis. Today, 30 boys and girls study here. They are taught by renowned masters of arts and qualified teachers.

“By establishing such schools, we primarily seek to promote deep study of our history, culture, boost knowledge of ourselves. The art of bakhshi is a great tradition of the Karakalpak people, and we will create all conditions for its development,” President Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
