Meeting of the Advisory Council of Heads of MFA Consular Services of the CIS Member States

Within the framework of presidency of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the CIS, on August 26, 2020, the 27th Meeting of the Advisory Council of Heads of Consular Services of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Commonwealth Member States was held via videoconference, Uzbekistan MFA reports.
The meeting was attended by representatives of Azerbaijan (as an observer), Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and the CIS Executive Committee.
The Council members discussed issues of protecting the rights and interests of citizens of participating states residing in the territories of the parties, providing them with legal assistance in the context of the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The need for strengthening joint work in protection of the rights and interests of citizens in the territory of the Commonwealth States, as well as readiness for further cooperation in providing assistance to citizens of the parties was noted.
Participants also considered issues of further cooperation in consular and legal sphere, identified tasks and promising areas of interaction between consular services of the CIS Member States, as well as between competent authorities of the states on practical implementation of provisions of international treaties and agreements.
Following the event, a Protocol was signed, according to which the Chairmanship in the Council of Heads of MFA Consular Services of the CIS was transferred to Armenia in 2021.
