Meeting with representatives of the American Chamber of Commerce in Uzbekistan

On August 18, the American Chamber of Commerce in Uzbekistan (AmCham) organized another monthly online meeting. The President of AmCham Hugo Minderhaud was the moderator of the meeting, and the Deputy Minister of Finance Dilshod Sultanov was invited to be a speaker. The event was attended by about 90 representatives of member companies of the chamber, including Coca-Cola, General Motors, UzBAT, Hyatt, Ernst & Young, Nestle, CNH, and other local and foreign institutions.
For reference: The American Chamber of Commerce in Uzbekistan was organized in 1997 by representatives of the foreign business community living in the republic, and is an officially registered voluntary independent association of entrepreneurs and institutions. It has more than 100 member companies, the composition of which is diverse and represents all types and forms of businesses. AmCham is considered a division and fully accredited member of the US Chamber of Commerce and, accordingly, has the right to use all information and other means of the structure. High-level public sector representatives, ambassadors and heads of international organizations are invited to regular monthly meetings.
In his speech, Mr D. Sultanov introduced to the participants of the event the activities of the government of Uzbekistan to mitigate the economic consequences of the coronavirus pandemic. It was noted that during this period a number of official documents were adopted to support the population and business entities, including the decrees of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On priority measures to mitigate the negative impact of the coronavirus pandemic and global crisis phenomena on the economic sectors " dated March 19, "On additional measures to support the population, sectors of the economy and business entities during the coronavirus pandemic " dated April 3, " On regular measures to support the population and business entities during the coronavirus pandemic " dated May 18, "On additional measures to support the population, business entities in the field catering, trade and services to reduce the negative impact of the coronavirus pandemic" dated July 20.
Business entities were provided with tax benefits, deferrals, accrued fines were written off, and credit holidays were provided.
The Anti-Crisis Fund of the Republic of Uzbekistan has been created, the funds from which are used to implement large-scale measures to support the health care system, including construction, equipment and material incentives for medical workers, social protection of the population, as well as support for industries and compensation for lost incomes of local budgets and the Pension Fund due to the provided benefits.
The event closed with a question and answer session, where the participants received the information on the topics of interest.
