Uzbekistan, Japan develop investment cooperation

The leadership of the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade, represented by Minister S. Umurzakov, together with representatives of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), represented by the head of the organization's representative office in Uzbekistan considered the current portfolio of investment projects.
The event was also attended by the leadership of the Japanese diplomatic mission in Uzbekistan and heads of responsible ministries and involved agencies.
Implementation of ongoing and developed projects involving JICA credit and grant resources was considered at the event.
The leadership of the Ministry noted the need for developing a fundamentally new approach to implementation of these projects, eliminating the risks of delays in development of allocated funds and disruptions of designated deadlines.
Specific project proposals were considered for construction of large-scale projects in the energy sector, development of fruit-vegetable sector of the country, as well as reconstruction and modernization of agricultural infrastructure.
An agreement was reached to conduct regular monitoring of projects with participation of organizations and agencies.
