Uzbekistan establishes 90-day visa-free regime for Japanese citizens

The Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan adopted a resolution of February 29, 2020 “On liberalization of a visa-free regime of entry into the Republic of Uzbekistan for Japanese citizens who hold diplomatic or official passports”, the Ministry of Justice reports.
According to the resolution, from March 1, 2020, an entry regime is established for Japanese citizens who hold diplomatic and official passports issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan on an equal footing:
– for the duration of their stay in Uzbekistan, related to the implementation of diplomatic or consular activities, as well as execution of tasks of the Government of Japan, including members of their families permanently residing with them;
– up to 90 days – for those entering Uzbekistan for other purposes.
A visa-free regime does not apply to Japanese citizens entering Uzbekistan to carry out labor, professional or other activities or for a permanent place of residence.
