International conference on “Imam Abu Mansur Moturidi and teachings of Maturidia: past and present” kicks off in Samarkand.
The conference is organized by the Committee for Religious Affairs under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Board of Muslims of Uzbekistan, International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan, Center for Islamic Civilization of Uzbekistan, Imam Bukhari International Research Center, Academy of Sciences and Al-Azhar Complex (Egypt).
The delegation led by the head of Al-Azhar Complex, Sheikh Ahmed el-Tayeb, as well as about 70 scholars, heads of prestigious education institutions and research centers from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Germany, Jordan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Russia, Turkey, Ukraine, Switzerland, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan are attending the event.
Deputy Prime Minister Aziz Abdukhakimov, Advisor to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Rustam Kasimov, Chairman of the Board of Muslims of Uzbekistan, Mufti Usmonkhon Alimov, Samarkand region’s khokim Erkinjon Turdimov and others addressed the conference.
It was emphasized that issues to be discussed at the conference in Samarkand, which has an incomparable place in development of Islam, will play an important role in promoting the true essence of Islam, and documents to be adopted following the event will serve to further develop Islamic culture and civilization.
