Uzbekistan Government and OPEC Fund for International Development sign agreement

The agreement was signed on February 25 in Vienna, on provision by the OPEC Fund for International Development of a preferential loan in the amount of 54 million USD to finance a project for improving drinking water supply in 22 settlements of Yangikurgan district of Namangan region and the city of Namangan.
On behalf of the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the document was signed by Ambassador Sherzod Asadov, and on behalf of the OPEC Fund for International Development, by its Director-General and Chief Executive Officer Abdulhamid Alkhalifa.
Within the framework of the project, a water supply infrastructure that meets international quality standards will be created, thanks to which about 200 thousand residents of rural areas of Namangan region will have access to clean drinking water.
