On February 20, 2020, Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan Yoshinori Fujiyama, Uzbekistan MFA reports.
At the meeting, the efforts of the two countries on expanding cooperation in the Afghan direction, in particular on launching the peace negotiation process, as well as implementation of various economic projects, the main purpose of which is to restore the socio-economic infrastructure of Afghanistan, were discussed.
A thorough exchange of views took place between the parties on the current situation in Afghanistan, the efforts of the international community to resolve the conflict and establish a long-term and sustainable peace in that country.
The Ambassador also expressed confidence in a significant increase in the number of Japanese tourists visiting the magnificent archaeological masterpieces of Buddhist architecture in Uzbekistan, which are of great historical and cultural significance for the entire world civilization.
