London hosts APPG on Uzbekistan meeting

The British Parliament hosted the first meeting of the new All-Party Parliamentary Group on Uzbekistan (APPG), which was attended by members of both houses of Parliament, Minister of State for Europe and the Americas Christopher Pincher and Ambassador of Uzbekistan Said Rustamov, Uzbekistan MFA reports.

Parliamentarians elected members of APPG management team, listened to the assessments of Foreign and Commonwealth Office and the Embassy of Uzbekistan on the state and prospects of Uzbekistan – UK cooperation and identified priority areas of activities of the All-Party Parliamentary Group.
 
Conservative MP for North West Leicestershire Andrew Bridgen was re-elected as the Head of APPG and his deputies included members of the House of Lords and House of Commons of the country's Parliament.
 
Ambassador informed in detail about large-scale modernization process in Uzbekistan, its open and constructive foreign policy, as well as new opportunities for development of Uzbekistan – UK relations. British parliamentarians also got acquainted with main provisions and priorities for development of the country, outlined in the Address of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the Oliy Majlis.
 
Minister of State for Europe and the Americas Christopher Pincher noted the UK's support for the program of deep reforms in Uzbekistan and the British side's interest in expanding bilateral multifaceted cooperation.
