On February 7, 2020, Amity University in Tashkent, together with the Ministry of Innovative Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the World Bank in Uzbekistan, organized a seminar on “The role of the smart city in the development of the digital economy”.

The event was attended by employees of the Department for Monitoring and Coordination of the Open Data Portal of the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Statistics.

International experts on digital development spoke at the seminar. In particular, Sunyon Kim, World Bank senior digital development specialist, D-r John Su Hwan, chief strategist of Busan Smart City project, Dr. Ji-Yon Cho doctor of philosophy, Yonse University, D-r Hyun Gun Wang, senior economist at the World Bank commented on this topic.

The seminar also examined the role of the smart city in the development of the digital economy, the formation of smart cities, the international experience of developing a smart city in the Republic of Korea and the development of smart cities in Uzbekistan.
