On November 12, 2019, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov held talks with High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission, Federica Mogherini.
The parties noted with satisfaction the intensification of cooperation in the current year. During the negotiations, the need was noted for the approval of the text of the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (EPCA).
It was emphasized that the key importance is attached to further developing bilateral trade, economic and investment relations, which is facilitated, including by the ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan on liberalizing all spheres of the country’s life.
Issues of cooperation in security were also considered. Readiness was expressed to hold a meeting of the European Union – Central Asia High-Level Dialogue on political and security issues in Tashkent next year.
Head of Uzbekistan delegation noted that decisive measures are being taken in the country to overcome the negative consequences of the Aral Sea disaster and expressed satisfaction with the support of the European Union for the Multi-Partner Human Security Trust Fund for the Aral Sea region and other environmental projects in Uzbekistan.
