Uzbekistan delegation led by Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Tourism Development Ulugbek Azamov visited Japan to attend Tourism Expo Japan 2019.

Head of the delegation attended the third ministerial conference organized with the support of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) on “Community Activation: People and Culture”. Delegates from 23 countries, including heads of international organizations, exchanged views on effective development of community in achieving sustainable development goals.

Participants were informed about rich tourism potential of Uzbekistan, dynamic and large-scale reforms implemented by Uzbekistan in tourism development, favorable conditions created for foreign tourists, as well as achievements of the country in this area.

It was emphasized that Uzbekistan’s tourism policy is aimed at creating infrastructure in tourism, preservation of ancient historical monuments. Currently, work is underway with UNESCO and other organizations to create a tourism infrastructure for preservation and promotion of historical monuments and cultural values.

It should be noted that in January-September 2018, the number of Japanese tourists visiting Uzbekistan amounted to 13,124 people, and in the same period from 2019, the number of tourists from Japan to Uzbekistan increased by 18,577 people.
