On October 22-23, 2019, Rome hosted inter-MFA consultations on expanding the normative-legal framework of Uzbekistan – Italy relations and its inventory.
The parties discussed the current state of the normative-legal framework for bilateral cooperation in various fields and prospects for its expansion. They clarified the legal status of agreements and other acts signed between the two countries that do not have the status of an international treaty.
Negotiations were also held with senior officials from the Italian Ministry of Economic Development and the Ministry of Economy and Finance to discuss a draft new intergovernmental agreement on mutual protection and promotion of investments.
The delegations also agreed to prepare for signing the draft Protocol to the Convention for the avoidance of double taxation and the Treaty on legal assistance in criminal matters.
