On September 24, Tashkent hosted consultations between the office of the Security Council under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the secretariat of the National Security Council of the Republic of India.
Negotiations were chaired by the Secretary of the Security Council under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan V. Makhmudov and Deputy National Security Adviser of India P. Saran. A high level of mutually beneficial and long-term strategic partnership achieved in recent years between the two countries was noted.
The parties reaffirmed their commitment to expanding both bilateral and multilateral cooperation in countering the growing threats caused by international terrorism and extremism, separatism, transnational organized crime, drug trafficking and others.
The importance of consultations in ensuring regional security, stability and sustainable development of Central and South Asian countries was emphasized.
Issues of further improving cooperation in information security, military and military-technical, in the fight against transnational organized crime in the field of drug trafficking and human trafficking, as well as ensuring security in Central and South Asia in the context of the current situation in Afghanistan were addressed during the consultations. It was noted that it is necessary to maintain the dynamics of relations and use the unrealized potential.
Following the meeting, a Protocol of bilateral consultations was signed between the office of the Security Council under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the secretariat of the National Security Council of the Republic of India, providing for specific measures on further deepening and expanding cooperation in the field of security.
