On September 16, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva met with members of the delegation of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, led by its Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin.
Issues of further strengthening and developing inter-parliamentary ties between the two countries were discussed at the meeting.
The parties emphasized their readiness to continue to interact within the framework of international inter-parliamentary structures.
The delegation led by Vyacheslav Volodin also held a meeting with the Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Nurdinjon Ismailov. The guests were briefly informed about large-scale reforms carried out in the country in accordance with the Action Strategy, on the activities of the lower house committees and factions, as well as on innovations in the field of parliamentarism.
Following the negotiations, an Agreement on Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation was signed between the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
