Special Representative of the President of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan visits Kabul

On July 29, 2019, the city of Kabul hosted negotiations between the Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev with the Chief Adviser on Infrastructure and Technology to the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Acting Minister of Finance Mohammad Humayon Qayoumi, National Security Advisor to the President Hamdullah Mohib, as well as former President of the country Hamid Karzai.
At the meetings, efforts of the parties on launching a peaceful political process in Afghanistan as soon as possible, and assisting Uzbekistan in restoring the economic infrastructure of the neighboring country, were discussed.
The Afghan side highly appreciated the policy of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on expanding trade-economic relations between the two countries, further increasing the economic presence of Uzbekistan in the market of fraternal Afghanistan.
The results of the visit of the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov to Afghanistan on July 1 this year were also recognized successful. Qualitatively new criteria in the process of strengthening bilateral trade-economic cooperation were outlined during the visit.
Acting Minister of Finance of Afghanistan Mohammad Humayon Qayoumi assured that all the agreements reached following the visit of the head of the Government of Uzbekistan to Afghanistan will be implemented.
Mutual interest and readiness was expressed for the joint implementation of infrastructure projects in the energy and transport-communication sectors that meet the immediate interests and needs of Afghanistan people in the first place.
Mohammad Humayon Qayoumi also emphasized that the Afghan side plans in September this year to sign the Agreement on construction of Surkhan – Puli-Khumri power transmission line.
