Presidents of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan talk on the phone

On June 28, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
President of Uzbekistan sincerely congratulated the President of Turkmenistan on his birthday, wishing him good health, wellbeing and great success.
Achievements of modern Turkmenistan under the leadership of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in the state and public construction, socio-economic development of the country have been emphasized.
The steadily growing authority of the state in the international arena was noted. It is evidenced by another resolution of the UN General Assembly, adopted at the initiative of Turkmenistan, on cooperation between the Organization and the International Fund for saving the Aral Sea, as well as holding the World Sambo and Track Cycling Championships in Turkmenistan in 2020-2021.
The leaders of the two countries considered relevant issues of bilateral relations and regional policy.
Progressive strengthening of Uzbekistan – Turkmenistan friendship, good-neighborliness and strategic partnership was noted with deep satisfaction.
The importance of further increasing the trade turnover, strengthening cooperation in transport, energy, industry and agriculture was emphasized.
Presidents spoke for intensification of activities of the joint Intergovernmental Commission, as well as continuation of fruitful business, cultural and humanitarian cooperation between the border regions.
Following the conversation, the Presidents reaffirmed their mutual commitment to further development of multifaceted partnership between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan for the benefit of the two fraternal countries and people, in the interests of sustainable development and prosperity of the entire Central Asian region.
