From 9 to 10 July, a regular meeting  of the Tourism Council of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) will be held in Samarkand, in frame of which it is planned to hold the First Annual tourism fair.

In order to improve the attractiveness and enhance the active participation of representatives of tourist industry of the states-participants of the CIS, the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for development of tourism in the course of participation in the meeting of the tourism Council of States – participants of CIS countries on 10-11 August 2018, in Dushanbe (Tajikistan) were invited to organize the next Council meeting in Samarkand. Further, in accordance with the initiative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan at the meeting of the Council of heads of states of the CIS on September 28, 2018 in Dushanbe, the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for tourism development presented a project for the First Annual tourism fair of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

In accordance with the project of the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for tourism development  is holding this fair on the sidelines of the meeting of the Tourism Council of states-participants of CIS in the city of Samarkand on July 9-10 2019. Also the event program includes the International scientific-practical seminar "Tourism in the CIS and regional cooperation: new challenges and opportunities."

This format allows participants to create a platform for a wide acquaintance with the tourist potential of the CIS countries, the exchange of important trends and innovations, as well as the intensification of the direct dialogue between the tourist agencies with the tourist industry of the Commonwealth.

The main purpose of the event is to increase the number of joint projects in the field of tourism between the CIS countries, to maintain the spirit of "cooperation and good neighborliness".

The organizers of the First Annual tourism fair of the Commonwealth of Independent States In Samarkand are the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for tourism development, the Executive Committee of the CIS, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Khokimiyat of Samarkand region. 

Among the participants of the tourism fair will be presented the relevant ministries and departments, heads of local authorities, representatives of the diplomatic corps, international organizations accredited in the country of the organizer, representatives of the tourism business from the CIS  states-participants, leading local and foreign media.
