Meeting with US economic adviser, Dr. Arthur Laffer

On June 12, the Ministry of Finance hosted a meeting of the Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Finance with the economic adviser to the US government, a professor at the universities of South Carolina and Chicago, Arthur Laffer.
For information: Arthur Laffer is an economist from the United States, studied at Yale University, is a Ph.D. at Stanford University, a professor at the University of South Carolina and the University of Chicago. He gained worldwide fame during the presidency of Ronald Reagan, and really became famous thanks to the “Curve of Laffer” (which is the pattern of the influence of tax rates on tax revenues to the state budget). He was an economic adviser to R. Reagan (40th President of the United States), as well as the British Prime Minister M. Thatcher. Also Laffer was among the famous "Chicago boys" who carried out the liberalization of the Chilean economy (at the invitation of A. Pinochet).
During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of tax policy and building a balanced and cost-effective fiscal policy. In particular, such important components of the tax policy as the tax base, corporate tax, tax on property and mineral resources along with basic global tax principles were considered in detail.
