On April 25, Minister of Innovative Development of Uzbekistan, Academician Ibrohim Abdurakhmonov and Principal Investigator of the Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor Shen Jingshan signed a letter of intent within the framework of the working visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the People’s Republic of China.

According to the document, the parties agreed to create in Uzbekistan, together with the Chinese consortium Topharman&Vigonvita&CADDDC-CAS, a large technological platform for the synthesis of substances of various drugs. This will serve the development of the industry, the production of affordable import-substituting drugs, and increasing exports.

Now the plans are to create Uzbekistan – China medical technology park for the synthesis of medicinal substances in Navoi Free Industrial Economic Zone. Phased implementation of works on the synthesis of a number of medicinal substances using the latest technologies in the field of chemistry and pharmaceuticals is expected.
