On April 1, 2019, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov received the European Union delegation composed of the Special Representative for Central Asia Peter Burian and Special Envoy for Afghanistan Roland Kobia.
At the meeting, the state and prospects of multifaceted interaction between Uzbekistan and the European Union, including practical issues of cooperation in implementation of projects aimed at socio-economic revival of Afghanistan and a comprehensive solution to the problems of the Aral Sea region were discussed.
The EU representatives highly appreciated the progress and first results of large-scale transformations taking place in Uzbekistan, which open up new prospects for further development of bilateral cooperation in political, trade-economic, investment, scientific-educational, cultural-humanitarian and other fields.
Mutual interest was emphasized in intensifying contacts at various levels. In this context, the parties exchanged views on the schedule and agenda of the upcoming joint events in 2019.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, current issues of international and regional politics were also considered at the meeting.
Head of the EU delegation, Ambassador Eduards Stiprais attended the negotiations.
