PEMPAL Budget Community Meeting completed its work

The annual meeting of the Budget Community of the PEMPAL International Program (“Mutual Learning and Exchange of Experience in the Sphere of Public Finance Management”) finished its work in Tashkent. It was organized by the World Bank, the PEMPAL Secretariat and the Ministry of Finance of Uzbekistan.
During the four-day meetings, over 60 international financial experts and practitioners from more than 20 countries, including our ministry staff, participated in presentations, seminars and discussions on ensuring budget transparency, public involvement in its formation, public capital investments and budgeting focused on result. The events took place in a warm atmosphere and were accompanied by fruitful communication on the topics indicated.
On the last day, a seminar was held on initiative budgeting - citizen participation in determining the objects of spending on issues of local importance. It was led by the head of the project “Support for Local Initiatives in Russia” by the World Bank, Ivan Shulga, who spoke about the application of this approach in 50 regions of Russia.
Participants were divided into 3 groups to discuss issues related to budget expenditures. They prepared and delivered presentations on various aspects of public financial management.
Summing up the annual plenary meeting, Deputy Minister of Finance - Head of the Treasury of the Republic of Uzbekistan Dilshod Sultanov mentioned that holding such meetings allows us to study the opinions and suggestions of leading foreign experts in the field, as well as inform the world community about the reforms held in our country, our rich history. and cultural heritage, tourism potential.
It was proposed to hold the next plenary meeting of the PEMPAL Internal Audit Community in October-November 2019 in Samarkand.
