Uzbekistan and Korea further increase cooperation in ICT

South Korean specialists are actively involved in development of the Electronic Government system in Uzbekistan, making a significant contribution to the development of new electronic public services. This was discussed at Uzbekistan – Korean forum, in Tashkent.

The international forum was organized by the National Agency of Project Management under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety of the Republic of Korea, the SUE “E-government and Digital Economy Project Management Center at the National Agency of Project Management under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan”.
 
It was attended by the delegation of the Republic of Korea led by the Vice Minister of the Interior and Safety of the Republic of Korea Yoon Jong-in, employees of domestic ministries and agencies, South Korean IT specialists involved in development of projects implemented in Uzbekistan within the framework of the Electronic Government system.
 
At the event, the current state and prospects for development of the use of modern ICTs in improving the efficiency and ensuring the openness of the state authorities’ activities were discussed, suggestions were made regarding the further improvement of legislation and law enforcement practice in this area.
 
Presentations were held on priorities of e-government of Uzbekistan, the role of Mirzo Ulugbek Innovation Center in development of e-government, achievements and plans for the future of the Korean e-government.
 
Following the forum, the participants exchanged views on the legislative basis for development of e-government, improving the national information and communication system, the prospects for introducing e-government services in e-commerce and taxes, using modern information and communication technologies for ensuring the openness of the state governing bodies’ activities.
 
The delegation led by the Vice Minister of the Interior and Safety of the Republic of Korea Yoon Jong-in also attended a number of meetings and negotiations organized to expand mutually beneficial cooperation.
