Political party reports are heard

On March 14, 2019, a regular meeting of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan was held.
Deputies heard reports on the sources of financing the activities of political parties in 2018.
It was noted that on the basis of the priority tasks outlined in the Addresses of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the Oliy Majlis and in the Action Strategy, all political parties are radically revising their work plans, continuing their activities in a new spirit. Because their role in solving the most important issues of national importance has significantly increased, the work on studying and solving problems of local residents has intensified.
According to the Law “On financing political parties”, a political party, depending on the number of deputy seats in the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, is entitled to receive state funding for its statutory activities.
As it was emphasized at the meeting, increasing the role of political parties in socio-political life of the country requires attention to further strengthening the financial discipline in their activities. This, in turn, necessitates proper planning, targeted spending of funds received from the State budget at the disposal of political parties.
Therefore, it was emphasized that the material, financial and other resources of political parties are important in implementation of their program goals and objectives. Based on this, at the meeting special attention was paid to the issue of targeted spending by political parties in 2018, as well as the degree of ensuring transparency and openness of their reports, activities in this direction were comprehensively analyzed.
As members of the faction noted, at present, control and revision commissions are effectively operating in all political parties of Uzbekistan. The organizational and legal conditions for their activities, in particular, functions, tasks, rights and obligations are specifically defined.
Taking into account the opinions and judgments expressed during the hearing, deputies took note of the reports on the sources of financing the activities of political parties in 2018.
As reported by the Press Service of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, at the meeting, other issues included in the powers of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis were also discussed, relevant resolutions were adopted.
