Specialists from Japan arrived at the Innovation Center for the Aral Sea Basin

The International Innovation Center for the Aral Sea Basin under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted a meeting with representatives of Japan’s delegation – Professors from Kyoto and Tohoku universities.
The Regional Coordinator at the International Center for Biosaline Agriculture (ICBA) for Central Asia and the Caucasus Dr. Kristina Toderich received the Japanese delegation. Guests from Japan got acquainted with seedlings of salt- and drought-resistant crops, which are grown in the farm of the International Innovation Center.
As reported by the Press Service of the Ministry of Innovative Development, Japanese scientists are planning to carry out joint activities for further implementation of joint research projects in the Aral Sea region. In particular, the issue of organizing hydrometeorological station in Muynak district was considered. In addition, the possibility of building a greenhouse, working at the expense of alternative energy sources and creation of technology that promotes the release of salts and herbicides from saline sand on the dried bottom of the Aral Sea was discussed.
