On March 12, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov received the Assistant Minister for International Development at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Sultan Mohammed Al Shamsi, who arrived in Tashkent as part of the official delegation to attend the meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission between Uzbekistan and the United Arab Emirates on Trade, Economic and Technical Cooperation.

In continuation of negotiations between the foreign ministers of the two countries, held on March 1 in Abu Dhabi, the parties discussed prospects for further development of interstate cooperation in political, trade, economic, investment, tourism, cultural, humanitarian and other areas, expanding the legal framework of relations.

According to Uzbekistan MFA, the sides exchanged views on preparations for the upcoming bilateral contacts.

Special attention at the meeting was paid to cooperation within the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in the context of the beginning of the UAE’s chairmanship in the Council of OIC Foreign Ministers, as well as in implementation of major infrastructure projects in Afghanistan, which should become an important part of the peace process in this country.
