International cooperation in the fight against terrorism

On February 26, Tashkent hosted an international conference on cooperation issues within the framework of the International Criminal Police Organization – Interpol project.

The event, organized by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Interpol General Secretariat, was attended by law enforcement officials from Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Georgia, Nepal, Kyrgyzstan, the Maldives, Pakistan, Tajikistan, as well as representatives of the UN Security Council, the CIS Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure and other international organizations.
 
It was noted that currently international cooperation in the fight against terrorism is considered as a strategic approach to achieving peace in the world. Uzbekistan actively cooperates with international organizations in the fight against transnational and international crime, international terrorism and other threats. The country takes initiatives to achieve peace in the world, participates in development of international legal norms and supports international initiatives.
 
The event has become an important part of legal and practical cooperation of Interpol member states in the fight against international terrorism.
 
Participants of the event made reports on improving the effectiveness of cooperation in the fight against terrorism.
 
At the conference, the need for establishment of an exchange of experience on their prevention, raising the qualifications of personnel was considered. The Uzbek side noted the willingness to develop activities of law enforcement officers in this direction.
 
At the event, issues of strengthening measures against persons who have committed a crime and are wanted, prompt exchange of information about insurgents and their threats, prevention of cases of their financing were discussed.
