Malaysian delegation to attend the International Forum on Pilgrimage Tourism in Bukhara
The Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Malaysia Ravshan Usmanov met with leading experts of the Malaysian tourism industry, who will take part in the International Forum on Pilgrimage Tourism in Bukhara on February 21-23.
According to Uzbekistan MFA, Perlis Mufti Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin, as well as the leadership of the Islamic Tourism Centre, the Institute of Halal Research and Management, the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents and TH Travel agency will take part in the forum.
At the meeting, the participants of the event were informed of the main goals and expectations of the upcoming tourism forum. It was emphasized that the forum is aimed at expanding international cooperation in development of Ziyorat (pilgrimage) tourism and attracting direct investment in this area, recognizing Uzbekistan as one of the largest centers of pilgrimage tourism in the world and introducing Halal world standards.
In turn, the Malaysian side noted the scale of reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan in tourism, reflected in abolition of visa regime for more than 60 countries, including Malaysia, unprecedented privileges and preferences for investors in the hotel business, infrastructure opportunities at intersection of border and customs services, including the green corridor.
The Malaysian side shared best practices in attracting tourists. Experts emphasized the importance of improving the logistics component of air travel Uzbekistan and its pricing for pilgrim tourists.
