In accordance with the resolution of the Head of the state “On holding the International Festival of Applied Arts” of November 1, 2018, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan together with the State Committee for Tourism Development, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Hunarmand Association, the Academy of Arts of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Fergana regional khokimiyat will hold the International Festival of Applied Arts every two years, in Kokand.
Thorough preparation for the first festival is carried out. Landscaping and construction activities are being carried out on the streets and alleys of the city, new hotels, complexes for provision of services, as well as other various facilities are being built.
10 new hotels will be commissioned in the city until August this year, as well as a major overhaul will be carried out in 5 hotels.
The first international festival plays a very important role in broad coverage of the ancient history and cultural life of Uzbekistan people, demonstration and promotion of unique works of national applied arts, which are an integral part of the rich cultural heritage. And therefore, special attention is paid to holding this event at a high level.
The festival will be attended by skilled artisans, masters of applied art, specialists, scientists and honored guests from foreign countries. Various exhibitions of folk arts and crafts will be organized on Urdaoldi Square, which will present handicrafts, works of art and applied arts, ancient machines, as well as documentaries, books, albums, photographs reflecting the work process of artisans. Shows of national costumes, performances of humorists, folklorists and ropewalkers will give a bright festive atmosphere to the event.
