Uzbekistan MPE and ADB to identify promising areas of cooperation

The Minister of Public Education of Uzbekistan Sherzod Shermatov received an ADB mission led by a Senior Social Sector Specialist Xin Long.
Representatives of the mission noted that the ADB is now working on a program of cooperation with Uzbekistan for 2020-2022 and this meeting is aimed at identifying possible areas of cooperation with the MPE.
At the meeting, ADB experts became familiar with the main areas of reforming the public education system.
In particular, the parties discussed the possible participation of ADB in improving the school infrastructure, introduction of student knowledge assessment systems and teacher competence, as well as student training programs.
Issues of introducing information technologies and improving the teaching of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics) disciplines into the public education system were considered.
As reported by the Press Service of the Ministry of Public Education, the parties agreed to discuss and work out issues of preparation of joint projects, implementation of which will be executed with financial support from ADB and other international donors.
