On January 16-23, India, hosted Asia Intercontinental Karate Championships 2019 in Kolkata city, during which the national team of Uzbekistan won 11 gold, 9 silver and 7 bronze medals. 

Representatives of ministries and agencies, mass media workers, sports fans solemnly met members of the national team at Tashkent International Airport named after Islam Karimov.

Karate athletes from 11 countries of the continent fought for prizes at prestigious championships in India. Uzbekistan’s athletes Jakhongir Abduvakhobov, Muzaffar Khojiyev, Hojiakhror Ibrokhimov, Mehrojiddin Jalolov, Umarkhon Muhammadiyev, Sanjar Ulashev, Omina Sulaymonova, Toshtemir Pulatov and Nodirkhon Soliyev won the championships.
