Uzbekistan – Russia: cooperation in the field of human rights has been enriched with a new agreement

At the invitation of the Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights (Ombudsman) a delegation led by High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation Tatiana Moskalkova arrived in Uzbekistan.
Within the framework of the visit, on January 16, an international roundtable dedicated to cooperation of the Ombudsmen of the two countries was held at the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis.
High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation Tatiana Moskalkova, addressing global problems in the field of human rights, noted that Uzbekistan in this situation consistently applies a systematic approach to ensuring human rights and freedoms in such a situation.
Following the event, the parties signed a Memorandum of Cooperation. The document provides for consideration of citizens’ appeals, the exchange of information-analytical materials, the study of international experience and advanced developments in the field of human rights, holding joint conferences and workshops, including within the framework of international organizations and forums.
Tatiana Moskalkova also held a meeting with the Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis Nuriddinjon Ismoilov. The guests were told about activities held on studying the issue of implementation of the Ombudsman’s office on the rights of children and youth in the country.
At the meeting, the parties considered the possibilities of cooperation, agreed on cooperation in the sphere of labor migration and improving the normative-legal framework.
On the same day, the delegation led by Tatiana Moskalkova met with the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Nigmatilla Yuldoshev.
The Russian delegation will visit Samarkand region on January 17, where it will become acquainted with activities of People’s Reception Office of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
