Meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan

On January 12, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Salahuddin Rabbani in Samarkand, who arrived in Uzbekistan as the head of a representative delegation to attend the first Ministerial Meeting of India – Central Asia Dialogue.
At the meeting, the sides highly appreciated the positive dynamics in the process of development of bilateral relations in all areas of cooperation. As it was emphasized, strong political will of the leaders of the two countries lies on the basis of multifaceted Uzbekistan – Afghanistan dialogue.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan expressed gratitude to the leadership of Uzbekistan for consistent support of efforts of Afghanistan government on establishing peace in the country, as well as strengthening bilateral relations and assistance in socio-economic development through implementation of significant infrastructure projects and training personnel.
The ministers reaffirmed their mutual interest in increasing interaction between the countries in political, trade-economic, investment, transport-communications, energy, cultural-humanitarian and other spheres.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, the parties exchanged views on the agenda of the Ministerial Meeting of India – Central Asia Dialogue.
As it was emphasized, involvement of Afghanistan in regional economic, transport and other infrastructure projects will allow the Afghan people to feel the reality of peaceful alternative to a multi-year armed conflict.
At the meeting, the ministers also considered international and regional issues.
Ambassador of Afghanistan Sayed Shahabuddin Timory attended the meeting.
