Shavkat Mirziyoyev: 2019 will be a turning point in tourism development

The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted this at the selector meeting devoted to issues of implementation of investment projects, held on January 8.
The Head of the state touched upon the tasks of the social complex of the Cabinet of Ministers and noted the need for strengthening the attraction of direct investments in tourism.
– We are gradually creating all conditions for tourism, providing wide opportunities for investors, business people. 2019 will be a turning point in tourism development, – said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The President forwarded proposals for development of the sphere in his Address to the Oliy Majlis. In order to implement these proposals in accordance with the Decree of the President of January 5 this year, the Concept for development of tourism sector in the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2019-2025 was approved. On the same day, a list of promising projects for organization of hotels was approved by the resolution of the President.
As reported by the Press Service of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, almost 2.7 million tourists visited Uzbekistan in 2017, in 2018 – more than 5.3 million tourists. By 2025, it is planned to increase the number of foreign tourists to 7 million, as well as the annual income from the export of tourist services – up to 2 billion USD.
