On November 27, the Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sarvar Otamuratov met with a delegation of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic led by the Deputy Speaker Vojtěch Filip.

At the meeting, the guests were provided with information about the ongoing large-scale reforms and their results, activities of the parliament, including the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, and innovations in the legislation.

In turn, the Deputy Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic Vojtěch Filip emphasized the further intensification of activities of the Czech Republic – South Caucasus and Central Asia friendship group functioning since 2007, aimed at developing inter-parliamentary relations of the Czech Republic with Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

At the same time, during the conversation, special attention was paid to the current state of inter-parliamentary relations between the two countries. In particular, the parties reached an agreement on the exchange of experience in lawmaking, control and analytical activities of parliamentarians of the two countries, as well as further important measures in this sphere.

According to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, at the meeting, issues of further enhancing cooperation between Uzbekistan and the Czech Republic in trade-economic, socio-political, cultural-humanitarian spheres were discussed. Views were exchanged on further increasing the trade turnover between the two countries.

Proposals for further strengthening inter-parliamentary contacts between Uzbekistan and the Czech Republic, and expanding bilateral relations were also discussed.
