On October 22, Tashkent hosted an international workshop on “Issues of ensuring justice during interrogation of children who became victims and witnesses of crimes”.
The event, organized by the UNICEF office together with the Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan and other organizations, was attended by investigators of law enforcement agencies, teachers of the Academy of the General Prosecutor’s Office, judges.
The main objective of the event is the introduction of international experience in conducting investigative process related to children who became victims of crime, based on the principles of justice and taking into account their mental state.
Leading countries of the world have experience in interviewing minors who became victims or witnesses in criminal cases, in separate rooms with necessary conditions. For the purpose of conducting interrogations of minors in the domestic system of investigation, similar separate rooms were organized. Activities of three of them have been established jointly with UNICEF.
As it was noted at the event, the study of international experience in conducting investigations related to minors who became victims or witnesses of crimes, will provide an opportunity for early detection of offenses, in-depth analysis, identification and elimination of causes and conditions for their commission.
